Project 1:
The Thomas Rated Database (TRDB)
(Currently In Development)

Description:

Devolping a rating website for multiple different forms of media. This includes movies, TV shows, Video Games, and Books. The website will allow users to rate and review media and see what others have rated and reviewed.

Role:

Sole Developer on the project. This application is being developed by me so that I can understand at a more in-depth level how to develop a full stack application like next.js.

Skills Learned:

I have become more aquanted with the technologies used in such a project such as databases, and how to provision this service as well as hosting a webpage using popular cloud platforms like GCP and AWS. I have also learned a great deal about data fetching as well as proper data management and caching.

Tech Used:

Next.js, React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Tailwind, TMDB API, openlibrary API, rawg API, AWS RDS.

Project 2:
Noodleworld Minecraft Server Website
(Finished, but private invite only)

Description:

Created a webpage for the management of a minecraft server that allows for decent performance at a sliver of the normal hosted price. Users of a select discord server are able to access the website and see the status of the server and the players on the server. These users are able to start and stop the server when they are using it. This allows for minimal costs to be spent on the server while allowing decent resources for running the server.

Role:

Sole Developer on the project. This application was developed as a solution to cut costs of running virtual machines constantly while allowing the server to be available when people wished to use it.

Skills Learned:

This project was not only to familiarise myself with Javascript, HTML, and React. It was also my first outing into the world of web development and Javascript frameworks, as the one chosen for this site was Next.js. I also learned a great deal about how to manipulate API endpoints in order to have cloud services like Google Cloud Platform interact with the website, as well as developing a python backend to handle securly making those API calls.

Tech Used:

Next.js, React, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python API Backend, Google Cloud Platform, and Discord API.
